  • 93% of the respondents reported that they ate less than they should because there was not enough money to eat.
  • 68% of the respondents stated that they are hungry but do not eat because they cannot get enough food.
  • 48% of the participants reported that they lost weight because they did not have enough money for food.
  • 30% reported that an adult did not eat all day because there was not enough money for food, and 24% reported that this occurred within three or more months.
  • 19% of all American homes with children lack food security.
  • 35% of households with single women lack food security.
  • 26% of non-Hispanic black households experience food insecurity.
  • 22% of Hispanic households lack food security.
